25+ Australian fashion designers you should know about
See who made the list of our favourite Aussie designers and your comprehensive guide on where to shop them online.
When it comes to fashion in the land Down Under, Australia has fast become the crème de la crème for designers and brands alike not only on our shores but right around the globe. Sure, we aren't known for the makings of the High Street, but what we lack in that department we make up for in true homegrown talent who know how to sew a darn good pair of trousers.
Australian Fashion Week made its debut back in 1996. Our first taste from the Australian fashion designers began in the early 90s with Alex Perry and his glamorous gowns, and Ksubi, who still takes us to denim heaven season after season. Fast forward to today and we have the originals in the mix with an added array of labels to thank for our wardrobe of wonders. There's Maurie & Eve and C/MEO Collective, the Sydney born turned international stars Sass & Bide and Zimmermann, and so much more.

Hi, interesting list! I work for a weaving mill located in Italy, producing accessories and fabric for woman’s garments. My customers are most of the fashion brands in Europe. I’d love to open my business in Australia but I don’t have any contact. Do you have any suggestion? Kind regards, Leo
Hi Leo,
Thank you for reaching out to Finder.
A great way in having visibility in Australia is by looking into signing up for online platforms that provide delivery in Australia. This way, you gain more visibility in other parts of the world. Here is a great comparison between eBay and Amazon, the two major players in the e-commerce market. Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Reggie
I’m an aboriginal Artist from a remote Kimberley town and would like to get my designs on the clothing range so I’m seek a designer that would be interested in working with me to get my designs onto clothing.
Regards
Bianca Long – Jura Girls Designs
Hi Aboriginal Artist,
Thanks for getting in touch with finder. I hope all is well with you. :)
I’m glad to hear about your endeavor. To be considered, you would need to directly get in touch with fashion designers and companies. Check their website and visit their contact us page. Check as well if they are job openings. Generally, you would first need to apply for an internship to gain experience.
I hope this helps. Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach us out again.
Have a wonderful day!
Cheers,
Joshua
I’m really surprised (and a bit disappointed) you haven’t included Morrison, not even in your general list of retailers. They’re Australian designed, owned and operated, have both retail and online standalone storefronts, and are also available in stores such as Myer. With over 25 standalone stores they’re hardly small biccies in the current retail climate. The same goes in terms of ‘where are they?’ for Saba. Another Australian chain with great retail and online presence, and it has to be said customer service. This isn’t a diss, by the way, just wondering why the oversight.
Hello Katya,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We appreciate your feedback on the page. We accommodate revisions if needed. A merchant can contact us to have them included. They can leave their website or store name, and the email address they can be contacted at. Afterwards, we will have one of our team reach out if it suits.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Hi
Can anybody tell me who this dress is by.
Thanks so much
Linda
Hi Linda,
Thanks for getting in touch. Sadly we don’t know which designer this is – if we did we’d be running out to buy one too!

Could you possibly tell me from this list who are all the designers that are based in Brisbane I would really love to know.
Hi Megan,
Unfortunately, none of these are Brisbane based. Both Sass & Bide and Talulah were initially founded in Brisbane but the head offices are now in Sydney.
Cameo and Finders Keepers are based in Adelaide. Camilla and Marc and Maticevski are based in Melbourne but the rest are Sydney based.
I hope that helps.
